Recovery Principle 4
Staying Calm In The Midst Of A Hurricane. - Trauma and Emotions

“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.” Neil Gaiman
Do you struggle with questions or feelings like…
Why am I plagued with feelings of anxiety, depression, or fearfulness?
Why is it so hard to settle down when meeting with groups of people?
Do you find that certain people, places, situations, or circumstances
remind you of the group, causing you to react?
Does it ever feel like a war is going on inside of you?
(The following four Recovery Principles are Highly Recommended.)
The Fourth Recovery Principle’s primary focus is on managing states of extreme emotional stress that are traumatic. Generally, the survivors of spiritual abuse experience seasons of intense anxiety, depression, and fear. For many, each day begins with the implicit question, “How will I manage my emotions today? How can I respond to life’s circumstances rather than react?” Sadly, the survivor is often overwhelmed by sudden, solid emotions and feelings. When this occurs regularly, the abnormal has now become normal.
