Recovery Principle 2

You Can Correct Only What You Truly Understand. - Trauma and Thought Reform

“One of the knottiest problems that one faces in the wake of a long-term commitment to a dream that became a nightmare is dealing with the inevitable question “Why?”

Ray Connolly – MeadowHaven Alumni

Do you struggle with questions or feelings like…

Why am I so confused about my life, and why is it such a struggle?

I am no longer in the group, so why am I still struggling with them?

How did this happen to me?  I am so tired of this!

This is the Second Recovery Principle and the second of the Three Foundation Principles.  After recognizing that something happened to you (Recovery Principle One), it is essential to understand the process that convinced you this was the right/good place to be because you can correct only what you truly understand.  The process is called “Thought Reform,” which is more common than you might think.
